Not all women experience menopause in the same way, nor do they need the same type of menopause treatment. As a woman your level of estrogen begins to drop around the age of 50 or earlier if you had a surgical removal of your uterus and ovaries. You will begin to experience the following symptoms:
- Hot flashes
- Low energy
- Low sex drive
- Dryness of the vaginal opening
Signs and symptoms of menopause are usually enough to tell most women that they’ve started the menopausal transition. If you have concerns about irregular periods or hot flashes, give us a call. In some cases, further evaluation may be recommended.
If you have these symptoms you may have estrogen deficiency or menopause and thus may benefit from estrogen replacement or any other medications that can alleviate these symptoms.
Due to the side effect of estrogen replacement such as breast and uterine cancer, Doctor Sung S. Yang may recommend one of several alternative medications. Or he may recommend estrogen replacement but monitor you closely with blood tests, mammogram, and Pap smear.
